Imo State: Supreme Absurdities and the Wrongful Death of Common Sense

Moments of joy in Nigeria are truly few and far between. Ironically, those include each time a government was overthrown- oh yes, there was a moment of joy when Mohammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s president, was removed as a dictator in August, 1985.
Moments of joy also come each time Nigeria won a soccer match against any hapless nation. It even managed to beat Brasil and Argentina to win the soccer gold medal in 1996,Atlanta.  Curiously enough, it stopped winning matches and tournaments the moment Mr Buhari stepped in again as president.
Conversely, moments of pains and anguish are so frequent that Nigerians have sort of habituated to them. They have developed thick skins as a shield against the sheer hell that life has become.
And yet, Mr Buhari is able to shock them in the most mind boggling, if annoying ways. Let’s do a bit of an aside for now. And don’t be shocked that we shall have recourse to soccer.
July 6, 2013, Plateau United, a soccer team in Jos, North of Nigeria beat Akurba F.C  79- 0. And just before you say Jake, 72 of those goals  were scored in the second half ( 45 minutes). The same day in Kaduna, North, too, Police Machines beat Babayaro 67- 0. Tepid investigations showed that the teams needed elevations and goals to move up. And so, they got a season’s worth of goals in one match. And somehow, just how, the losing teams didn’t score a goal each. Was it fixed? You bet! Was it ludicrously annoying, you bet too. Was it mathematically possible to score 72 goals in 45 minutes? As Nigerians say when they can’t explain the daily anomalies with which they must contend, “this is Naija”. I.e anything is possible.
On Tuesday, January 14,Nigeria’s Supreme court gave a judgment that made the results of the above marches look like the works of angels.
Mr Hope Uzodima, APC candidate ( party of Mr Buhari) who finished 4th place at the March 19 governorship elections was moved up to 1st place to replace Mr Emeka Ihedioha, PDP,who was governor. One of the judges had to get sick in order for a totally soulless judge sit.
And like Plateau United, below is a bit of Voodoo math.
INEC,Nigeria’s elections board, declared the following results back in March:

Total Accredited voters…..823,743
Total votes cast–……………739,485
Cancelled votes……………. .25,130
Valid votes……………..       ..714,355

And a breakdown showed :

1. Emeka Ihedioha………….273,404
2. Uche Nwosu……………… 190,364
3. Ifeanyi Arerauma………..114,676
4. Hope uzodinma…………..96,458.
5. Others had………………… 39,433

Grand total…………………….714,335.

And Tanko’s second half:
From thin air, the Supreme Court manufactured 213,295 for Mr  Hope Uzodinma. Add that to the original 4th place votes of 96,458 ,you get 309, 753 votes, placing him far ahead of those that were logistically ahead.  The picture suddenly changed to this:

1. Emeka Ihedioha…….  273,404
2. Uche………………. ……..190,364
3. Ifeanyi…………………….114,676
4. Hope UZODINMA…….309,753
5. Others …………… 39,433

TOTAL…………  …….  …….927,630.
And here is the most convoluted part of the non-equation.

1. Supreme Court Judgement Votes …… ..927, 630
2. Voters accredited  by INEC …
823, 743

3. Number of actual votes …….
739,485.

And the magic missing number ………213, 363.

I hear that Mrs Kekere-Ekun, the justice that announced the coup, “explained” that Mr Uzodima’s sudden change in fortunes came from the canceled votes. Come on!  Canceled votes? That would be  25, 130. Add that to 96, 458 and you still won’t get 309,753! How did Tanko’s court do the math?
Oh, lest we forget! Somehow, just somehow, all the canceled votes happened to belong to APC! How very convenient!
Oh, again, let’s grant that all the canceled votes belong to the APC:  Recall the  following:
Total Accredited voters…..823,743
Total votes cast–……………739,485
Cancelled votes……………. .25,130
Valid votes……………..       ..714,355

Valid votes declared by INEC : 714,356+canceled votes, 25,130=  739,486!
How did the Supreme court get 927,630 as grand total? How do you explain a different of  213,263 ?

The powers that be have since crowned Mr Uzodima even when it is clear to an idiot child that he couldn’t possibly have won. That the people of Imo state have been raped, plundered very brutally by the very supreme court that should have protected them.

Here is a bit of valid data about the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Mohammed.  When he appeared before the Senate in 2018,he told them that “rodents ate my certificates in Katagum, Bauchi” . He added that no potions of the certificate was “salvageable“.
But it soon appeared that Mr Tanko didn’t possess the basic O’level in 1973 when he entered ABU, Zaria, to study Islamic Law. He failed English and Math, for example. Mr Tanko didn’t attend the Nigerian law school nor the British Bar.
And finally, what’s not salvageable about Nigeria, beyond his certificate,  is that a man who was not a lawyer to start with, ended up as the Chief justice of Nigeria. What’s worse, Mr Tanko’s perfidy seems to enjoy the endorsement of Mr Buhari and the interests he serves. How very unfortunate for everyone!
Basic math and common sense are related. But it doesn’t work that way in Nigeria.
